According toParler, Kanye West, the controversial entertainer and supporter of former U.S. President Donald Trump, has agreed in principle to purchase the crypto-friendly social media platform Parler.
Kayne is no stranger to Bitcoin or cryptocurrency, as in October 2020, during an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, he praised the technology. In that appearance, Kayne said that the bitcoin guys have a perspective on what the true liberation of America and humanity will be.
Kayne, who is also known as Ye, wore a Satoshi Nakamoto hat, whose photo rounds on social media. Kayne’s move to purchase Parler comes in the wake of West’s Twitter and Instagram accounts being suspended. Earlier this month, these platforms suspended those accounts called antisemitic comments. Now, Kayne will not have to worry about these comments on his platform.
According to Parler, this agreement with Kayne is expected to close during the fourth quarter of 2022, which will include ongoing technical support from Parlement Technologies, which is a parent company of Parler.
Parler launched in September 2018 and has long touted itself as a free-speech Twitter alternative. After the 6th of January capital riot, Google Playstore and Apple App store removed Parler. Amazon Web Services also removed Parler and called its lack of policing of questionable and violent content.
In February 2021, Parler added content filters and resumed its service. Parler returned to Apple App Store in May 2021 and Google Play in September 2022. In September 2022, Parler announced the raise of $16 million in Series B funding.
In March 2022, Parler launched its NFT marketplace DeepRedSky, where it featured a line of digital art, CryptoTRUMP Club, in which it featured Trump’s image. Later, it includes the collections of Babylon Bee and Brandon Tatum. Former first lady Melania Trump also launched a collection of the POTUS TRUMP NFT.
About Parler’s deal with Kayne, Parlement Technologies is optimistic. George Farmer, the CEO of Parlement Technologies said that this deal will change the world and change the way the world thinks about free speech. He said about Kayne that Ye is making a groundbreaking move into the free speech media space. Moreover, he said that Ye would never have to fear being removed from social media again.
